My query this time is simple... or at least, simple to you smart people who know the answer, lol! So... can anyone tell me exactly how to add a song of my choice to one of my videos? While you're at it, I've also been wanting to figure out how to 'chop up' my videos so that I can take out the boring parts (like setting up 7 bottles over 30 seconds, lol). I'll appreciate any advice you can offer! ;D Thanks! -Slayer Spelling Edit

Well, if you have a PC then Windows Movie Maker gives you basic editing functions and it isn't hard to learn. It comes along with the Windows operating systems, so it's pretty much free.
To add music all you need to do is import the song of choice into WMM (I'm not sure what formats it can be in, but I know WMA or MP3 work), drag the song into the 'audio/music' bar at the bottom below video clips and there's your music. You can change what volume the music is at compared to the video's audio by clicking 'timeline' at the bottom-left and then clicking 'audio levels'.
Importing video is done in much the same way (either go to file>import or drag the video files into the WMM interface) but the videos must also be in a few formats. I know WMV and AVI work, I'm not sure about others. I know that Quicktime videos will not work and you either need a better program or find a way to convert it into a format that does.
To edit the video just find where in the video you want to make cuts, hit the 'split' button on the bottom right of the video preview and then just delete the sections you don't want. It's super-easy. I hope this helps.
For Apple computers I think there's iMovie or something, but I think you need to pay for it. I can't give any more detailed information here as I've never owned a mac.

Use Window Movie Maker to edit you videos. Import and drag the video the the bottom. Once you edit the video at the bottom, you can import a song and also drag that to the bottom. I will take you an hour or two of experimenting to learn it. It will be easy there after. If you plan to upload to YouTube be aware the YouTube screens for copy right infringement and mutes the sound out. One way around that is to use live concert recordings of your favorite songs that are less likely to be identified by You Tube bots. At the more advanced levels, you can also take any song and modify the code a little so that it is not recognized by the You Tube robo-cops. The song will still sound the same to the ear. I have not learned how to do this yet.

Yeah, windows 7 (for some unknown reason) did not come with windows movie maker. First check out this: windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/looking-for-windows-movie-maker (Or actually don't. Just search your computer for "Windows Live Movie Maker" or just "Movie Maker" Some versions of Windows 7 had it "hidden" And this: www.brighthub.com/multimedia/video/articles/22658.aspx just tells you to go download the Windows Live Suite, which has movie maker on it. (I think it's free) And I'm sure a young whipper snapper like yourself will be able to figure out them new fangled Pee Cee's with all that techno who-ha and your rap music. But seriously. It's not a hard program to use. Import your raw video. You'll find a "split" button somewhere that will let you cut the video. Then just use the portion of video that you want. After that just import a song instead of a video. And as far as getting around the youtube robocops, they don't search for classical music. Public domain is my best friend. (or you could do stuff like Tsafa was saying, but I've never tried anything like that.

Greg: +3 when I can... I found movie maker hidden like that. You rock, man. LOL, I actually seem to have missed the natural techno-bug. I ROCK at any video game you puc in front of me... but other than that... not so much. And the only rap I'll tolerate is Linken Park, whish isn't really rap, it's punk-rock/hip-hip. Besides, the guy is WHITE, seriously! He can't be a rapper. I like to stay well away from classical, I'm afraid... but thats for all your help! Fallschirmjager- Are you TRYING to make me embarrass myself?!?! I'm practially cryin' over here. Seriously, thank you. That really does mean a lot to me... whether it's deserved or not. As for the music, it'll be pretty random, between a few dozen groups that span punk, punk/rock, rock, rock/hip-hop, alternative... (hold on, checking Itunes for what they say, I can never remember what genre's are called, sry... ) AHA! Okay... Other than what's listed above, I have 'ska', 'new metal', 'inspirational', and 'Christian' (DUH, shoulda thought of that... just think of my Christian music as rock, I guess....) and then a bunch of boring stuff. Does that sit well with you? Thanks again, everyone! -Slayer
