Here is my Windlass brass hilt cut in thrust sword before I wrapped it. The one on the right. I really like the sword except of one thing, the handle and a brass fitting didn't fit. there is a big gap. Here is a closer picture. The gap made it uncomfortable for a any amount of use, even with cloves I still got blisters. The first thing I did was putty the gap The wood putty fixed the problem but now I have this ugly wood putty on my handle So I wanted to put a leather wrap around the handle. I didn't want to put a cord around the handle because I didn't want to thicken the handle and already like the way the grip felt. Now what to use for the wrap. I don't like to use chamois because it's to stretchy and it doesn't feel that great. I like to use top grain leather it's stronger and easer to clean then chamois.I have some deer skin but I didn't want to use it because it's too thick,I wanted something a little thinner and the deer skin is real stretchy too. I went to the local Tandy Leather store and found some pig skin it's thin, already dyed the color that I wanted, not that stretchy, and cheap I got a little over 5feet for 10 bucks. I cut a piece out of the pig skin and glued it around the handle. After the glue dried I trimmed the leather around the brass fittings. Here is the finished handle.

Windlass are earning a name for poorly fitted hilt furniture. Kudos on taking the pro active approach and making a decent sword more functional.
Wouldn't mind getting a mini review of the sword - Karma if you do. I know its no longer available but a your assessment on this type of sword would be cool.
