That's one hell of a big Tsuka I hope you get a good one because I ordered three 11" ones and got one that was really good My 11" one, will take something like a 40cm Same to wrap, having bought a cheapo 30cm one as an experiment, I think it is a little too small I would guess you will need something like 60 - 70 cm Same which will be VERY expensive! I guess that maybe you have given up trying to cure the sharkskins?

Yea, something like that... My mom can't stand the smell anymore and banned me from buying them... By the way, the tsuka comes with a pair of menuki and only a kashira (flower theme and gold in colour)... I think it'll go well with a tsuba i have... Now i'm deciding the colour of the same' and ito (any suggestions?)... And i just bought a katana from yuan 2 days ago and now i am waiting for it... Maybe when i'm finished with it i'll post some pics

Oh, does the width of the same' counts or just the length?

That looks to be a tanned hide, i.e. basically leather and not suitable for your purpose. You need rawhide, untanned, just dried. As I said, I am not anything like an expert, I'm just going by the research that I have done, you need to do similar. Read everything you can on the subject before you spend any more money, otherwise you will end up a lot poorer although maybe wiser
