When I first received this sword , I was impressed with the way it handled and felt in my hand , but something was missing. It needed to be dressed up a bit , after all the blade was engraved. I contacted Aaron Justice, whom I highly reccomend, for his professional service and a quick turn around. I had Aaron replace the faux Same with a real one and had it blackened. Then had the handle re-wrapped in burgandy silk wrap instead of cotton , after the Musahi Menuki were put on ( After all , it is a Musashi Sword ). I also requested that Aaron place some Rattan at the top of the Saya ,which he did exactly to my specifications. Here are some pictues ,sorry I`m not a better camera man. BeforeAfter

Oh my God....just...oh my God! That is one fine looking kat you got there, mate. A hundred times nicer than it was before. Whatever you paid him was worth it. I'll keep him in mind in case I need to "pimp my sword." Karma for the nice photos.

Looks nice! That red silk over the black Same is $$. The rattan is also a nice addition. I'm curious, what is the menuki? I couldn't quite make out the figure in that photo.

Hi Maz To answer your question, the menuki is a Japanese hat coupled with a boat oar, symbols of Musashi Miyamoto

How much did you get it for? It certainly looks good.

Beutiful job! Who did the work? Love the rattan. That menuki looks like the same one on the hanwei practical pro.

I hope he tightened up the gaps on that habaki.

That is a really good looking custom job, as he did such a good job on the tsuka, one would hope he did the habaki as well Sam, how do you tighten up a habaki ? I thought they were cast and then filed to shape or custom made by soldering hand made brass sections together.

The black/red/gold combination is absolutely gorgeous. I'd be afraid to use it. At least with the previous fittings, I'd have the sense of "meh, it's an entry level sword with so-so fittings." But that...that is truly a display piece. A functional one, definitely. But far too beautiful for me to use...

Thank you all for your comments.
I think that the sword turned out very well and it will be used for display. Having said that , doesn`t mean that if it needs to be used for personal protection in the home that it wouldn`t be used,.It will be used if it is the first one grabbed off the display stand.
I will be posting more dressed up swords as they are finished.
Again , Thanks
