Looks great! What did you use for the base wood? And for the cord?

Great - did you buy the core or carve it yourself?

Real nice. I only hope that I can one day become proficient at it. That is a solid first attempt, keep it up. Since you plan to be doing this more in the future it will help to use hishigami to keep the diamonds symetrical. Here is a link I think you might be interested in, if you haven't already found it. pages.prodigy.net/tlbuck/tsuka/tsuka.htm

Karma for you. I have never tried my hand at tsukamaki so I can safely say, it is better than I could do. ;D

Excellent work. What a grand entrance you have made in to the Forum. Non of this, "Hi, my name is Mike and I am addicted to swords" stuff . I have a few bare blade that I plan to build finished katana out of. All I need is some free time... What's that? If you haven't already seen it, I have a page of katana building links that may assist in future projects. Looks Great

Thanks, everyone. Mark, I've been to your links, very informative! Erick's tutorial was something I found a while back, and followed them almost religiously on this one.
Marabunta, I had Thomas Buck's pages at hand for the knots, and plan to use hishigame next go-round. I was possessed the night I decided to do the tsukamaki, and was determined to do it without wedges. Live and learn... I still have tons of ito left, and will re-do it one day.

Tsukamaki is such a royal pain in the arse to do right, so much so I won't even attempt it. So, props to you for your enthusiasm and I look forward to seeing your work progress. If there is anything we need more of its mounters. Ciao
