Does anybody know anyone in the United States that can fix a broken tang? It happened with my first sword, one that I've had since 1992. It's a Windlass longsword that has a lot of sentimental value to me and I'd like to get the old girl up and running again. The tang broke as a result of an unforgivably stupid mistake that I'd rather not get into. All I can figure to do is have the broken section of the tang reforged to the part still attached to the blade, which would then require heat treating and tempering. Know anyone who could fix it?

You can get a professional welder to do it. 99% of the time, welded tangs ARE bad, but if you get someone who properly knows how to weld, they should be able to do it no problem. Make sure that all welding points are in a double v shape, like this: >< Ask one of the local bladesmiths on what kind of rod they should use, etc. (Sam Salvati and Dan Davis are recommended))
