Im looking at the Roman Gladius: Praetorian on Strongblade.com I have heard mixed reviews about strongblade products. Can anyone give me some advice of this sword or even the brand name in general.

I got a Strongblade gladius a few years ago. The blade had a decided curve in it, which is not good for a gladius. However it is a discontinued model and they may have improved. For the price I think they aren't bad from what I've seen. Sure they're better swords out there but they'll cost you more. Here is a review of the Strongblade Praetorian Guard Gladius.

Strong balde owner myself. Not the Gladii mind you. I've handled many, but only bought the Crusader. They offer them so many different ways that they're a lot like McDonalds. Have whatever way you want, it's still not good for you. I had a problem with the weight of it, the balance, total lack of distal taper, and no edge. They're kinda like DSA; if you're willing to put the time in to it finish it'll work. Not comparing DSA to Strongblade, so don't flog me folks Oh, here's a link to my Strongblade. Might help you out Strongblade Crusader

Thank you for the advice and Avery great review I've been looking at the crusader as well but i didn't know very much about its historical accuracy. As this is my first real sword, I've bought and even cut with wall hangers in the past, i don't know the direction I want my collection to go. I also have been studying the Italian and German Longsword so I has going to get the Hanwei Tinker Perice Longsword or the VA Practical Longsword. I just have a hard time justifying spending 200+ dollars on my first real sword. What would you guys advise?

But the value for money takes a big leap when you go upwards from there. as for which longsword, have a look at the review index, seen here Good info there.

Joey, I do indeed back you up that the KC gladius is a beasty of a blade and my current favorite gladius in my collection. However, John, I'd have to say it isn't the most historically correct gladius around. Not that I know that much about the historic thing but I do know the brass plate should be inset in the guard instead of butted against it. Still I like it.
For Longsword I'd take the VA LS just because it's a better cutter and I like that sort of thing. I'd say the H/T LS handles smoother.
