Problem is dumb ass people having dumb ass kids. Maybe not a real bad thing as there are plenty of jobs most folks would not do that are sort of reserved for the dumb ass population.

I was never a fan of Japanese....anything really. Swords, history, but especially anime....bleh! So, anime swords are obviously not something of interest to me, but I couldn't help but post this when I saw this video. I feel I should point out: That's the Final Fantasy 7 buster sword. It's from a video game, not an anime. No, it isn't. Anyone with a brain knows those things weren't designed to actually be used in real life. That's the whole point - they're an exaggeration. I have yet to meet a single person who'd look at that sword and go: "Yeah, that's pretty much what real historical swords were like. Man, people were stupid back then." Anyway, the reason it broke is because it's a crappy wallhanger. If it was a faithful replica of the sword in the game it definitely wouldn't have broken. Of course, the sword in the game had a blade that was, like, 40" long, 12" broad and at least 1" thick, so I doubt it could even be lifted. But it sure as hell wouldn't have broken.

I actually have meet and do know people who think these buster type swords are viable sword designs and that people in history likely used such swords, and kicked ass with them. These same people play WAY to much WoW and FF and other such games and play lots of D&D and will not listen to me at all when I show them some of my collection and try to explain why the sword from Berzerk would never work.

I've lost hope. I'll just sit back and let natural selection do it's part.

Brains FAIL. "sword" FAIL. I agree with the pre-stated sentiments about not wastefully and destructively hacking at a tree. What's worse is that that type of irreverent mindset towards something that could have severely injured himself or others will always help to build a case for the illegalisation of swords. This fellow has obviously mistaken that sword-like object for a toy, which it is not. Makes us all look bad to the eyes of the unknowing. Cutting in a controlled environment using a target we know will move, or cut, or absorb the shock of a misplaced strike is one thing.
Going outside in full view of the entire neighborhood and hacking at a solid stationary object while there are people standing close by to to you is completely different.
Just glad nobody was injured or worse.

I agree that the fellows in the video were acting stupidly, but until reading some of the responses here I wouldn't have thought twice about the bit where they put the blade into the tree. I'd like to thank you guys for enlightening me a little, you made me think.

Not only is senseless destruction not a very knightly attitude, trees are worth a good bit of coin.
Your property value is affected by the types and maturity of trees on the property. Those doofs may have irreparably damaged that tree, costing someone several thousands of dollars.
In effect, if they just picked a tree at random on a property that none of them were the owner of, they are guilty of criminal damaging.
