I saw this one thread "Pattern for knotted scabbard belt?" on myArmoury and it showed how to Tie a belt on a scabbard. www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=6361I thought it would be cool to make one for my Windlass Longsword, so I went to a Tandy Leather store near me and got the supplies that I needed to make the belt. Here is the tools I used. I bought two 3/4inch leather straps, two belt buckles, and a brass ring, I already the rivets . First I riveted one of the straps to the brass ring, then I found the length that I wanted the sword to hang and tied the knot. I am left handed so I started the knot on the left side,if your right handed you need to start on the right side. Next I put a buckle on the other end. Putting a buckle on a belt is easy, first you puncture two holes like this then you cut two lines in between the holes like this then you wrap the belt around the buckle and rivet or tie the belt. Then I riveted the second strap to the ring and tied the knot. I cut the extra pieces of straps that I didn't use for the knotting, so I could finish the belt. The longer strap I riveted to the ring and punctured some hole though the belt, then I riveted the smaller strap on the ring ,then put a buckle on the other end. Here is a picture of me riveting one of the straps. Some pictures of the finished job

Wow, not too shabby. Something I might find myself attempting for my Marshall, or if I buy the Sidesword (or any new euro sword) in the near future, since the frog I got from Ravenswood Leather is that blasted hair too wide...
Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh at the last photo of you. Looking so stern, mean, angry...comic to me. Puts me in mind of the Cold Steel guys.
Nice work. How long did it take, and what would you estimate the cost of supplies?

That is exactly what I thought when I preview my post ,I almost deleted it but I wanted a photo of me wearing the belt to show how it looks on and I didn't what to take another photo.Glad you had a laugh ;D It cost about $30us and it didn't take that long.

We are here for the amusement of one another, after all. I imagine you were probably somewhat fatigued by the time you finished, so it'd only be natural that you'd not be your most photogenic self.

Dishdoc, you may not care, but this type of belt suspension is not appropriate for the marshal. The Marshal probably needs some looped suspension or better yet, one of the nifty integral ones

I'd like to have something for my own, as well, especially as the frog I bought from Ravenswod is just a hair too big...

Take a look at the suspension of the maelstrom line scabbards at tritonworks, specifically the first 8
Razor's suspension fits perfectly well with his lnogsword as this type of suspension was just about only found on longsword scabbards to accomodate the length.

Thank you guys. Yes I am left handed Rammstein. The suspension really works for this sword and if you want to make one for you sword Sargon and have any questions I can help you. Thedishdoc you can ether buy or make a frog for your Marshall, or maybe a rapier belt would work. Ravenwood has a lot of different frogs. I see then at a couple of ren faires and have bought some stuff from then. I was just at their both this last Sunday. If there is something you would like to check out let me know and the next time I see themI can check it out for you.

Nice work Razor and thanks for sharing it with us with such detail. I started playing around with leather working last year, I made a Balteus (roman military belt) since my friends and went to the Texas Ren Fest during Roman week and dressed appropriately. It did not turn out bad at all, but I think I'll be redoing it soon for this year.
