www.lawranceordnance.com/the_sharpened_edge/swords_european/index.phpGo through alot of their euro section they still have some of the LONG LONG AGO discontinued windlass's in stock. Bit pricey for an aussie to buy (cause its only a windlass) but then again nothing to stop you americans. Hey email the guy and haggle its obvious he's had them for donkey's years might be willing to part with them cheaper Examples: Arbedo, English cut n thrust, transitional viking all still in his inventory I believe.

Ish, pricey is not the word for it, those prices are f*cking insane!
The last time I bought a Higgins and Transitional Viking Sword, I got them both on closeout for $99.00 each in the MRL showroom. Granted, he has a couple swords I would like to have again, but after you factor in shipping (for a grand total of around $450ish USD), you'd be paying the same as you would for a used Albion, a new ATrim, or any number of other swords out there on the market.
I think he needs to dramatically reduce prices before I'd be remotely interested. At his current prices, I'd not even write the guy and ask him if he wanted to haggle...

Ish, pricey is not the word for it, those prices are f*cking insane! Whoa you're telling me! This is why i prefer to order my swords from the U.S. Even with all the shipping shenanigans it's still ridiculously cheaper than buying most swords from Aussie or New Zealand. And I quite like the look of the Arbedo too

I went on that website to have a look...reminded me I think Windlass should re-issue some older swords (or upgraded variants): the schiavona, the Rheinfelden, the late Norman (which obviously needs lots of improvements, but still: the world lacks brazil-nuts on entry-level swords*) among others...their latest offerings are mostly c**p IMO...
*the world seriously lacks brazil-nut pommels in any case...

Haven`t seen the like of some of those in a looong time. I bet the reason he still has some of the oldies in stock is in direct relation to his sky high prices. Things shipped to be sold on Islands tend to be more expensive, at least that was the case on Vancouver Island. Some interesting pieces, but not worth what they are asking.

Oh yeah its rotten, and alot of the price hiking is to make a good retail on the blade to boot and ALOT of ignorance around australia. Believe it or not in europe and UK historical re-enactment is a commonly known element (maybe cause they got all that history on their back door), and for the U.S its pretty good too (civil war re-enactment probably gets bigger nods cause thats local history).
But in AUS we've barely got any history AND its not really focussed on much anyway, never mind ren/med WMA ......... So alot of ignorance can be played with these things and retailers take fair advantage of it cause their sales are'nt much to sing about.
Sorry just my personal opinion. I'm seventh generation born and bred Australian and even I consider us a bunch of convict morons on the whole.

He he sorry bit of a harsh response. But yeah any retailer here seems to have rather high prices hiked and often on ignorance and under-representation of historical and martial arts qualities in our country. For instance I was in a reputable military supplies/surplus store which is in the CBD of Brisbane for 30 years (so its doing okay to keep in business). And I witnessed a guy getting a sword wrapped up for himself ........... its about 70.00 from KoA for ........ get this ......... 400.00AUS. So yeah, I kinda threw this on as a bit of a chance if someone still wants to grab a discontinue new but also a display of aussie frustration
