theres a lot of different recipes around, I have used hot lemon juice with mild sucess, some people use vinegar.if theres no real hamon there and you want a bright hamon I beleive the stuff they use for etching circut boards works well, but I havent tried it.Would be available at your local electronics store.

Hey Jason, thanks for bringing this up!!! I face similar problem with my hand-honed Musashi katana - 'thin' & almost non-existence 'hamon' along certain edges of the blade ...and have been troubled by it for very long time, but don't know what to do abt it --> Ronin, Mike.. Thanks very much for the leads!! ;D Think it's time to get my hands dirrrty ;D

Just a quick dip in ferric chloride, then rub vigorously with 400 or more grit sandpaper. WIll make it POP like crazy. Don't leave it in for more than a few seconds at most.

Hi Paul... sorry to disappoint... as not likely I'm doing it for time being It's requires a lot more work & careful planning than I initially thought, until I scrutinize those steps on the article posted by Mike .. Also, not sure if I want to heat the blade using the butane torch as sugg by the article - afraid it'll spoil the temper of the blade due to my inexperience hands....
