Just bought the Furu Bamboo Kat and Wak Set from Sunpoint. For $99 they aren't the worst I've seen. The good news is that although the fittings, ito, tsuka, tsuba, and in fact even the saya are exactly the same as the Masahiro, the blade is TOTALLY different. No one who has ever seen or owned the original would mistake the Furu as the same sword.
In my opinion that is good.

akuzokuzan,
Sorry, no cutting tests. My conclusion was based on the blade geometry, bo-hi, kissiki, and hamon enhancement. The fit is good and tight and the tang resembles the Masahiro except they are signed and numbered.
