Ronin, you are an artiste'! I have one of those lying around gathering dust, but I just can't ever get in my mind's eye how to it make look nearly as good as the ones you do. Maybe I should just wrap mine up and spend three times the price of the original sword to ship it to you for customization? We could call it, "the world traveling blind man" or some such.

Very awesome!
A few side questions (I hope you don't mind!): how did you manage to get a zatoichi into Australia? Are there were restrictions about concealed weapons?

Zatoichi's are a grey area in reguards to importing,I got mine thru a now defunct dealer who argued with them that it wasnt a concealed weapon as it didnt have a catch retaining the blade as sword canes do. It was just a sword. Global Gear lists them on his site and I have seen them on other aussie sites so have a dig around if you are looking for one.I'm trying to get the new version with removeable tsuka but havent had any luck yet.

Shooter, I have 2 more guys lined up wanting me to do theirs,I may have to open a sweatshop and get in some cheap labour if it keeps up If it wasnt that customs may or maynot grab it I'd tell you to send it over.

Thanks for your reply - very interesting!
I noticed that on the globalgear website the CAS/Iberia Zatoichi is stocked, but on the eBay store they stock a G series Zatoichi. Visually they look quite similar in a gross sense given the differences in camera angles, but the hamon looks quite different to me. The G series seems quite good value but I think in the end one has to wonder about the manufacturing.

Vyapada, go with the Hanwei model, there are some pretty shocking zatoichi-model swords out there ! This is my dream cane sword( Australian cuntoms and excise people would probably just take it off me though!) www.j-armory.com/BFK.htm

A very nice sword, chopchop! I agree with you, the Hanwei Zatoichi 2 is likely to be the better choice... if it's ever available in Oz!

vypada, you can always send a pic to Australian customs and ask for a ruling, if they say OK, get it in writing and your right to bring it in.If they say no, you can apply for a permit to bring one in with your local weapons branch. If they say no, well.... your stuffed.

Chop: if you ever get that thing promise you wont use it, it looks a bit dodgy and it would slip through your hand and you will lose some fingers.
