Ok so I have a Masahiro Elite Musashi katana and when I received the sword in the mail it doesnt sit tight enough in the saya. I mean I know it shouldnt be super tight, but it shouldnt fall out of the saya when lifted upside down either. So anyway I am asking for suggestions on how to go about fixing this. I have heard about ans studied "shimming" with a piece of wood veneer and this is the link to were I got the directions on how to do it: www.instructables.com/id/Tighten-a-Loose-Sword-Sheath/. Well if anyone else has any other ideas or if you know anyone who can do it for cheap because I am poor and im trying to save money to buy a SBG custom katana! Haha oh and how do I post pictures on this site? i see the button that says add image but all it does is " [/img]" that..... So an instruction on that would be nice too Thanks, Rj

Just add some shims to the ha or mune side of the koiguchi. Thin slivers of wood are enough.
As for the tightness of saya, it should be tight enough to where neither side can easily be separated from the other. It should take slight pressure to break the blade free from the saya.

Could you clarify if I am correct that the saya should not be tight enough to hold the katana if the saya was held vertically with handle being at the bottom (blade sliding down)?

Ideally, if you turned the blade up on end in the saya, the sword should not slide right out. The habaki/koiguchi fit should be tight enough to keep the sword secure, but not so tight that you can't dislodge it with the push of a thumb.

To post pictures, upload them onto photobucket, then get the IMG code from PB and post it here. If that's not quite clear enough, shoot me a PM and I'll explain in detail... sorry, I'm about to go eat dinner, but just wanted to post the quick version for you. L8r, Slayer

yes I edited the post because I was incorrect about how tight the saya fit should be.

Oh ok that's what I thought, and thanks to everyone who has posted as on this thread. It would be really helpful if someone could post a video on how to shim the saya that would be really cool Ryan
