I have had my new SOG Daggert 2 for a few weeks now and the more I handle it the more I like it. I was first looking for the original Desert Dagger as featured in the K.B. movie but it has long since sold out and is almost impossible to find on the second hand market.
I put off buying SOG's new model because I really didn't care much for the bead blasted or black finishes they were sporting(still not sure if I love it) there is just something about shining steel!
well, although the finish is different as are a couple of other features like blade shape and steel type, I felt that it was worth going for. once I had the knife in my hand I was suddenly aware that I made the right decision.
since this isn't a full out review I'll just highlight a few things.
the first quality that you notice when holding it is the incredible balance. I think it's balance point is about 1" behind the guard making it feel almost weightless. the handle is incredibly comfortable with great shaping and a super grippy ummm... grip.
I am warming up more now to the shape of the double sided blade where in the beginning I thought it was too bulbous towards the tip.
I like the pommel (detachable) and the serrated portion on one side and the shape of the guard feels very comfy and secure in the hand.
the steel is AUS 8 with a blade length of 6.6" 57-58HRC and O.A. dimension of 11.85"
the handle is Kraton and the sheath which can be positioned a number of ways is made from super tough Kydex.
this dagger is just amazingly balanced and feels great in any hand position and would probably be a good thrower as well.
here is a few shots of the knife -
(next to my KC Tanto)
(stabbing the infamous water bottle)

here is a link to the official SOG site (did not buy mine here)
