I just noticed that I could smite someone. Do the rest of you see this as well? I can't tell anymore, because then I karma'd the guy, lol, but it was strange... Sometimes I've noticed the smite button for an instance when a page loads, but then it goes away. This time, it was there, and selectable. I even hovered over it to make sure it wasn't an illusion, lol. I could have clicked on it. Did I miss some big announcement? -Slayer

There is a way to smite tho I won't reveal how. To me this is beside the point. I never used the smite button when we had it and won't if it's brought back. I realize there are those who will abuse it but it takes all kinds eh? There is more virtue in behaving in a civilized manner because one sees the value in it than doing so under outside restraint. Having said that it wouldn't bother me a bit if the smite button disappeared completely and forever. ;D

The Smite button still appears because there is no way to remove it without also removing the Exalt button. Instead, Paul has opted to simply hide it rather than remove it. When a page loads it refreshes the coding and it takes a split-second (usually) for that bit of code to kick in. Hence why, if you pay attention, you can still see the Smite button when you load a page.

Yeah, I'm anti-smite, just because. It's not a political system, so we don't really need the smite to 'counter-balance' the karma, lol. That being said, it DID surprise me. Sirtre- good idea, I have no idea how to do that, but it sounds smart! ;D Sean- Good to know. Frank- Don't worry, man. I won't! ;D Ric- You know what's really annoying? late last year, I seem to recall finding out the 'secret of the smite', but now I can't remember it for the life of me... Of course! ;D Then again, you have the highest post-to-karma ratio of any of the high posters (above 1000 posts), so kudos to you, my man. -Slayer

I hadn't noticed the Smite button, but like others have said, this is such a friendly forum that who cares What I have noticed that is annoying is when I am at the login screen, and I start to type in my login, the blank will fill in my login name, then the password, but if I am not real fast in clicking, my login disappears and I have to type (or paste) it and my password

I believe in the smite button. If you can exalt someone for doing or posting something exceptional, you should be able to smite them for being a liar, moron, misinformer, bad vendor, or general jackhole in the forums. It's like feedback on eBay.

It's like feedback on eBay. I agree wholeheartedly. But since we can't have it that way, I am content to simply enjoy the forum as is.

The smite button has been here ever since it was 'removed' (more like hidden), you guys must have some pretty good internet connection not to notice it. To 'reveal' the smite button (help to have poor connection). Just refresh or load a new page, right before the page finish loading , press the "stop loading page" and lo and behold, the smite button. Might take a few practices to get it right. Don't believe me? Just smite me

I did not want to risk being smited myself.

I look at like a sporting event. If one of my teammates does a good job, I might pat him on the ass. However if he screws up I don't semprinislap him.
