If I wanted to read the joys and tribulations of pro-gun people I'd hang out on the NRA website or I'd go on the firearm section of this forum. Can we keep gun-related subjects out of this section, please. Thank you.

Sebastian, I believe this was posted here because any forward step in the right to bear arms effects us sword enthusiasts. When the guns are banned, swords aren't far behind. Just ask those living in the UK.

There was nothing posted here to read about. Just a link to where you can read about it. If you don't want to read it don't click that link.

Bear with me.
Or US, or any but please don't bare your arms if such a cause or announcement is important. Unless, of course, it is to roll up your sleeves in pursuit of fair legislation.
Linking swords and knives to firearms as weapons instead of simple civil liberties is folly. Considering the AKTI and others have petitioned and won easement of legislation in states such as New Hampshire, promoting blades rights through NRA and all firemarm efforts is counter intuitive to further success in other states and territories of the U.S.A..
Concentrate on the civil rights, not objects as weapons.

Just ask those living in the UK. Randy has a point here. Weapons laws often beget more weapons laws... so restrictions on firearms often lead to restrictions on knives, maces, clubs, swords, and other weapons.

For me, there was plenty to read about in this small thread's title.
About swords beeing next in line when guns get banned, maybe, but I am not certain. It happened in England because people were using swords as weapons of crime and their goverment decided to ban them rather than work on the many other social factors that led to this. The situation in that country proves that goverment can do very stupid things, sometimes, IMO.

Just ask those living in the UK. That is correct. That is why I posted the forward link here. It did not make sense to repost the whole subject. Swords qualify as arms. The sword symbolizes arms more then anything since it is designed with not other purpose other then to be used against people. I do believe that Simon's justification is stronger then mine. The issue is not so much about knives, swords or gun... it is about civil liberties. karma +1 to Simon.

As in more control, less freedom, on the path to tyranny That makes sense now, thanks
