Hey, guys! ;D A few weeks ago, I saw that Cold Steel had discounted their old Recon 1 model for the 4th of July sale (which, surprisingly, started before June. ). As I hate the aesthetics of the new model, and have always wanted the older one, until its retirement a few months ago, I HAD to snap a few up. I ordered two Spear Point half serrated versions, one for me and one for my dad, as well as a plain edge tanto point. Unfortunately, CS messed up the order and switched it so I got two tanto's and one spear. I called them today and was told to call back tomorrow morning to speak with the manager, so we'll see what happens. Here are a few pics of them (dad still got the one spear point, 'cause it's his favorite, even though he offered to take one of the tantos). So... Does anyone want a review? I'm willing to do one, but only if it would actually be useful, lol. Oh, and keep in mind that all the pictures that show only one tanto point were taken AFTER it had cut a bunch of sticks, branches, bottles, flowers, weeds, and more. Not a single scratch on the blade, I love it. -Slayer

Do it! A review would be awesome ;D
I've almost gotten this blade a couple times but could never decide if I liked the grip shape/coating on the blade. I do agree, though, that the new models are hideous. The only redesign I don't mind is their Lawman/Mini Lawman.

Cool. ;D My mom and I will be out of town for a few days, going to Orlando to visit my recently-moved-out sister, but I'll do a review when I get back. Oh, and as for the coating, trust me, you would like it. CS isn't joking when they say it makes the blade slicker... It feels like it's been polished to 10000 grit or something. A drop of water slides off at only a slight angle. Anyway, more to come in the pending review. Thanks for commenting! -Slayer

Yo Slayer Cool looking stuff, I'd love to see a review of it, too, my folders reviews are feeling a bit lonely in their part of the forum Edit : Speaking of discontinued knives ... It's sad to see the CS Black Rhino becoming one, it was a very cool design.

Nice looking knives, Slayer! That half serrated one looks very much like what I carried on duty. They are particularly handy for cutting seat belts to get vics out after an MVA if you are the first responder. That's why most paramedics carried something along those lines, too. Are they assisted open, or just reg thumb button? Enjoy your new purchase!

American styled 'tanto' points have rubbed me the wrong way ever since I learned more about katana. I used to like them before though, which is why I have a few. Anyways, the knives look nice, man. Hope you have fun with 'em. Nice of you to get your dad one too.
