Why is is so hard to find even a good replica of a wooden Gladius? I have watched Spartacus and see that even the wooden Gladius's that they practice with look so much different then the ones available online. I got a practice sword but find that the pommel is wrong as well as the grip. I did grind the grip to fit my hand much better but again the pommel and guard seem way off. Any advice other then rebuild my own? Attachments:

Would recommend looking at KoA for wooden gladius. My only beef with wooden gladius is that they are a pound lighter lol. Deepeeka makes pretty decent blunt weapon for more accurate handling (Deepeeka swords are not too good for cutting).
The one you have is not too shabby. Perhaps the pommel is a little large and might dig into your wrist when swinging. Just grind the pommel so that it is more spherical and you have a pretty decent wooden gladius.

I am in the proccess of taking the sword apart and going to use it as a template. I used to do custom furniture and cabinets :] so I am thinking about making a few copies of the blade and guard and then fit them with a new pommel and grip. Should have some time over the next few months in between work. See what happens when I watch a cool tv show. I guess that is the obsessive in me, ha haa. but then again if it wasn't for Rome and Spartacus I would never have gotten into swords or found this cool site. Thanks for the replies and please bare with me.
