Hi, got a new Raptor Tanto, and I thought I'd kick up some pics/observations in case anyone is interested... Out of the box, I'm quite impressed by the finish of this thing. Habaki is beautifully tight to the blade. Tsuba, seppa, and tsuka are all very tight. Blade is razor sharp, straight, and uniformly finished. Wrap is OK, ito feels kind-of synthetic/plasticky, but it is synthetic suede, so that's to be expected, i guess. Fuchi/Kashira/Tsuba are all nicely done in a blackened steel. Seppas are nicely centered. Rayskin is real, but not very nice. Menuki are golden feathers, just like the others in the Raptor series. They do look smaller, though. Saya looks well made, with a horn koigouchi and kurigata. Sageo is the standard Hanwei black artificial silk. Came with a nylon bag to store it in. Overall, it feels nice in the hand. I took it apart, and the tsuka is nicely made, and not split. With some better rayskin and a nice wrap this could be a very nice looking tanto, I think. More pics up at picasaweb.google.ca/jblakey/Tanto#Thanks, jason Attachments:
