Alright I have a friend who I want to get a sword for for her birthday or Christmas. She's not a martial artist and will likely never use the sword for anything more than hanging on her wall and looking pretty. Pretty being the word here. She likes your standard cruciform sword style, but she's a princess at heart and wants something from a fairy tale. Pretty bejeweled handle (but not too gaudy). I've peered at a few masonic replicas and the griffindor sword replica from Harry Potter, but those seem way too personified. I'd like to find something more generic if I could. Might even consider having something made if the price wasn't too unreasonable. Any thoughts or ideas?

hmmmm is functional a desired trait? would a Kit Rea (spelling?) fantasy piece be her thing? what is your budget? sadly, functional and flashy don't often come together without the dreaded cheesy taggin along until you get into serious money purchases so I guess an idea of your/her cheese tollerence would be helpful. how does something like Needle strike you? www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/needle-sword-of-arya-stark/prod_3.htmlit was used by Princess Arya Stark in the novel series "Song of Ice and Fire" By George R.R. Martin a wonderful set of books and soon to be a TV show.

functional isn't a concern as long as it's not going to fall apart on her just handling it I can actually probably find something on the site Sebastian suggested. Thanks, everyone! edit: Also the Needle sword, while pretty, simply isn't decorative enough. This is the best one on the aceros de hispania website that fits her desires: www.aceros-de-hispania.com/acero-toledano-swords/avalón-sword.asp?product=espada-avalonAny more suggestions like this one before I purchase? I think she'd like this one, but unfortunately it doesn't come with a scabbard of any kind

Philip beat me to it. That's a good "princess" style sword.

I doubt it.. we could crucify him though.
Nah, just kidding. We need our RicWilly alive!! Also I doubt we'd succeed anyway with all that sharp metal in the way ;D

How about a Hanwei-Tinker EMSHS with custom grip and pommel from Sonny?

I second the vote to talk to Sonny and see what VA's CSS can come up with.

Anyway, if you don't mind, the exalt button is somewhere under Mr. Freud's pic

... Wait... we're looking for a SLO here?
Man, jewel-encrusted ain't my thang, so I usually don't pay attention to 'em at all. The criteria makes me think of something that Marto would make.

Honestly, I'd just go with an AT303S from VA and have Sonny work some magic in the CSS (new hilt parts, new grip with some risers, and see if he can add a ruby, sapphire or emerald into the pommel and some small ones inset in the ends of the quillions).
