Hey there, this might be a newb sort of question but I have a Hanwei Dao broadsword that was a hand-me-down of sorts. It looks like it's taken some abuse from its last owner and it appears that the hilt's come a bit loose and the guard rattles noticeably. Is there any sort of advice that you guys can offer for repairing this?

It may be hard to see, (I took these with my webcam,) but there is a gap between the the guard and the handle itself. Here I'm trying to move the guard so the gap is more visible. Same from a slightly different angle And from the top.

Is it hex nut or peened construction? I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yeah, it's an easy fix if it's a threaded pommel. Slip a seppa or two in there and gap problem solved.

Can't remember on the thread pommel...
But, you could use fishwire - wrap tight around into the gap - use superglue on the last inch or so.

Hey, I did figure out what it was and it was hugely disappointing-- the previous owner had cut a notch into the tang and that is what caused the looseness/rattling. I really appreciate the tips I got from you guys and I'm sorry I didn't tell ya how this all ended until way later. Thanks again!
