So I've noticed that my DSA Samwise sword is having some movement in the grip. It shifts slightly side to side and also twists a small amount. It only twists a few degrees but I can still notice it. My plan is to grind off the peen on the pommel, pour epoxy down the grip, let it set then weld pommel back to the tang.
Does anyone see any problems or know if the hilt furnitures has epoxy already that will cause a problem with removal?

Benaddi- If you grind the peen, I think you'll find that you'll have to shorten the grip somewhat to have enough metal sticking out the tang to re-peen. DSA used epoxy on my grip, albeit not a lot of it. If you pour epoxy into the handle (grip) hole while it's assembled, it might leak to the guard area and might even show on the steel. Also I think you'd have to destroy the handle to ever get it off after that. You might want to check out Albion Swords website and look at their "how it's made" section. It has a good video of them heating a tang and peening into place. My sword is threaded, and has it's own problems, but those peened assemblies really limit your choices. Good luck to you and hope you figure it out.

When I welded a pommel onto a hunting kinfe I had made, the heat burnt the sh#t out of the previously beautiful antler handle... a thing to consider (Maybe I did linger too long with the electrode...)
