Yup... they do it every year, I'll be there. Was hopping to meet up with Odingaard and Marc Ridgeway and make it a mini SBG gathering, but alas, they won't make it.

Just got back from the MRL sale... Not too much of interest this year... picked up a couple clothes for my wife and thats about it. Thought about picking up one sword... but someone snagged the only one I was interested in the whole place... ah well... likely better off anyway, more money to save for customs.

Well it wasnt to bad,if you were looking for a sword that center table had a bunch of different swords for $50.00.I had a Scottish type single handed sword in my hand to buy,the one with the disk pommel and the down angled crossguards good deal for fifty bucks. I ended up at an end table with about 10 swords on it.All were one offs i had'nt seen any in the catalog except the Swedish viking sword I bought.I remember it in the catalog but with a plain black leather wrapped handle and a black leather scabbard. Catalog price $255.00 didnt do much for me www.museumreplicas.com/p-293-swedish-viking-sword.aspxThis one however has a custom brown leather grip put on it and with that I think it looks totally different and it was $115.00. Overall 39.5 - blade 32,7/8 - width 2,1/8 - weight 2.6 lbs I'll do a review after I do a few cuts with it,BTW it was fifteen dollars to sharpen it but they forgot to charge me for it (Actually I forgot also till later.) There was one guy there actually going to the renfair and had no garb so he was dressing from the tables as he went he looked pretty good when he left. Anyway a few pics,The brown leather is sewn on and sort of looks like wood They also did a good job sharpening it like a razor, cant wait to do some cutting.

I was reading a review on my Swedish viking sword and it said the pommel had a steel pin going through it and the tang.I dont know if the pommel threads on the tang first then is pinned in or it is just supported by the about 1/4 inch steel pin.BTW they did a good job putting it in and grinding it down to the exact finish of the pommel, you really have to look real hard to see it,plus it is very sturdy not any play or looseness at all. Anybody ever see this before on a sword! Hey Shadowhowler what time were you there, did you see the big guy all dressed up in leather armour for the ren faire.

I saw the guy in the leather armour, yeah... and another guy in chain... ...and that *&%$#ing Scotsman in the kilt, who took the ONLY sword in dagger in the whole place that I liked! Grrrrr.
