I had always wanted a Japanese sword, and as I have gotten older I decided to start looking for one, so like so many other people I started with the Catalogs, and looked, as I am very much a nerd I realized that I needed to educate myself before I spent any money, and I happened onto this site, and it was a great discovery for me, all kinds of info and reviews pictures and videos and more than anything help!
I got this sword as my first for several reasons, one it was in my price range, and it was DH, it was “T-10” steel are the main reasons.
While I was looking I looked at a lot of different options, the SBG, Ronin, and several others.
While on this site, several posts referenced “Sword N Armory” so in my searching I started to explore their site.
Several swords caught my eye but given that I had limited myself to $300 and I really wanted to buy a “blunt” at the same time to “teach” teach myself with, this one fit the bill very nicely.
The Pictures on the website do a better job of representing the “whole” sword than any of the pictures I could take, so for a good overall view here is the link:

I don’t know if there is any history to this type of sword. I’m currently reading several books on using, making, appraising, and history of Japanese swords.
I really have to give a big WOW to Sword N Armory I ordered my ordered on May 5 and it was on my porch on May 11 delivered by FedEx. I got a Tracking number the next am, and was able to track it all the way home. When I got it the packing was Outstanding. Everything was well protected, clean and just the way one would think it should be.
The first thing that struck me was the heft of the sword, it was quite a bit heaver than I expected, I don’t know what I expected, but the balance is great so even with the weight that I did not expect it did not “feel” heavy
As I took it apart to do an initial inspection, I had to do some “Modifications” I had to de bur the tang a little, and replace the mekugi, good thing I had ordered an extra cleaning kit (I did not relies the sword came with one) I ended up using all of the extra pegs I had, but they are easily removed with the hammer and punch.
Here are some pictures of the parts:
I am not ready to do any “real” cutting yet (I am having trouble finding a “school” to teach me how to not hurt myself so watching a lot of YouTube and reading). So I cannot give a review of the cutting with this sword. Maybe in a few months, but the blade is SHARP!! I was holding it right after I got it and moved a sheet of paper down over the blade, and it shaved the paper, I was impressed.
I am very happy with this sword, and as far as I am concerned the customer service from Sword N Armory was FANTASTIC! Seeing as I just placed the order on-line, and did not talk to anyone, just an on-line order and I would have not known any better if they sent me a “crapper”.
I have now discovered after reading more on this site, that if I would have asked them to they would have “hand” inspected, my order before sending it out, I will do this next time.
There were two things that I was a little upset about one is the Habaki rubs in the saya and leaves scratches or rub marks on the Habaki, the other was how hard it was to get apart right after I got it, with me being a new sword owner, with no knowledge about them, I was very nervous about doing damage to the sword, after I got it apart I did a good inspection of all the parts, and they seem to be ok, but like I said I’m new.
I like the Munetoshi Mushin I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I think it a good value, at sub $300 it is very nice, and I will do more business with Sword N Armory.
