Hey guys,
one of my mates got a 500 USD custom made celtic leaf blade for his 21st and as people are wont to do they handled the sword and the blade. It's now three years on and he wanted me to ask if there is some way to remove the stains? One other question, without taking the sword apart is there a way to tell if it is functional/battle ready? *shudders at the word* He told me he would find out who made it so i can give more information.

A good polish is in order. Some soft rags and a tube of Flitz, or some other steel polish should take care of them. If the blade is already shiny (except for the stains), then that would be it. If the blade has a more non-reflective, "matte" finish, then a bit of polish on a superfine Scotch-Brite pad or equivalent would be good as a final finish.
Now that I reread this, it doesn't come out quite right. What I was saying is that, if he wants the blade to be nice and shiny, then the soft rags and polish would give him that effect. If he wants the blade to be more of a matte finish, then the Scotch-Brite and polish would be the way to go.
