G'day Y'all, I was browsing through various sword sites, as we all do, specifically looking at dadao, when I came across this at Seven Stars Trading- www.sevenstarstrading.com/html/hanwei/dadao.html - A new Hanwei dadao? There's no mention of it on the Cas/Hanwei website, at least none I could find. It's a bit longer and heavier than their existing dadao, with a different guard. Is this the Scott Rodell cutting dao? No mention on Seven Stars about it being designed by Mr Rodell... I'm bemused! Cheers Marc E

I've not heard anything about this DaDao... but its vastly cooler looking then the Hanwei DaDao I used to have... I might pick that up, if I can learn more.

When Marc was trying to get information for me about the Rodell designed dao at first they thought he meant this one. This isn't the Rodell designed sword but is a new Hanwei dadao and looks to be a pretty nice one. Marc at Wiwingti can probably beat that price, too. If my money weren't all spoken for for a special sword project I'd pick one up for sure.

Yeah, my bank account is recovering from my wife's birthday, but in a month or so I might be looking for a dadao, and this one is looking good! Weird that it's not on the Hanwei website....
Cheers

It might be on the CAS/Hanwei website - I've had some issues trying to find pieces I know they make since the most recent redesign.

if you havent seen my vids on hanwei dadao, it is very durable, and hadles well. as for the new one you are talking about here, it looks a little like on of garrett's. as for the weight difference, it would need good balance to go with it or i wouldnt be interested. the one i have is less than 2 1/2 lbs. 2 lb 5 oz. teh extra weight no matter how slight could make a whole world of difference in handling. if this is a hanwei product, i have no doubt, however, that they have taken that into thought when designing it. there is no statement in ad that this is hanwei product, tho, only a price comparisone. hanwei products, usually, have a hanwei logo on the pic.

The link to the product page on Seven Stars specifically calls it 'Hanwei Dadao', and it has a Hanwei serial number, so I'm pretty sure it's a Hanwei product. I wonder if they'll continue to make both, or if this one is intended to replace the older version? I hope they continue with both. I've been minded to buy the 'original' Hanwei dadao for a while (further encouraged by your comments on it, Sirtre!), but this one looks good too, if it's well balanced. I guess they're cheap enough that I can get both.... Cheers Marc E

I wonder if Seven Stars actually has it in hand or if they're just starting pre-orders. Marc did previously mention that this wouldn't be available on the market until September.

Hey this sword is out now! It's on the casiberia website! Looks like it has a WWII theme going on with a leather handle! Anyone checked it out yet? First post BTW ;D

I am guessing it is 1090, but Hanwei does not specify.
