I was wondering if you knew of any sword or sword type that has the following features:
- fast, almost like a rapier
- one or two-handed grip
- capable of dealing cuts, not only thrusts with the tip
do you recognize it? or it does not exist?

Kinda fits the description of a single-handed or two-handed (shuang-shou) jian.

Pretty vauge... I can think of several Atrim swords that would fit that discription.

You say "fast, almost like a rapier." I can't comment on rapiers, but there's a pretty big misconception that typical medieval swords WEREN'T fast. People are saying "jian" and such, and I would agree but mostly when you use it right. Atrims I also agree with, and the Hanwei side sword has a really nice blade but the handle is hollow plastic.

I think he simply meant light and fast swords, even though rapiers weren't that light. They were rather heavy and required quite a lot of strength to use. For a single-hander, I think no sword fits that description better than the AT-1557.

The AT-1557 is a spectacular sword, but it's about as singularly one-handed a sword as you'll ever find. You said you want the option of one or two hands. Looking at your criteria, I think you want an AT-1420: You can find pictures and info for both here: www.christianfletcher.com/Christian_Fletcher/Atrim_Legacy.htmlReview of the 1557: /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=5054&page=1#79541 I know ChrisA has a review of the 1420 somewhere but I can't find it. Here's a thread where that sword is mentioned and discussed: /index.cgi?action=display&board=euromedieval&thread=14889&page=6#252661

*Edit to add* The blade shape on this next one might not be exactly as you're looking for (pretty biased toward the cut), but it's hard to find a better deal than this badboy: sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/product101.htmlHere's a review: /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=15486

i would go for a "Messer":
super fast and light cuts like a razor can be used with two hands Bonus: looking extremely well on a mans side...:-)

I wouldn't say that the 1432 shares anything in common with the 1557 personally, they are completely different so not brothers at all.

The first thing that jumped into my mind was something Type XVIII-ish. Guess that's been pretty well covered sofar ;D Chenessfan, that's probably my favourite blade ever. You are one lucky guy
