Like the Oceanapray juice and gatorade type bottles for example. Are these considered abusive? Are they hard to cut?

They are harder to cut than the thinner ones. I wouldn't call it abuse, but keep in mind one can bend a sword on a bad cut on a thin bottle. It's the water.

They are quite tough little buggers to cut. Although korean drinks have some of the hardest plastic bottles to cut. As for abuse...yeah they do a bit of a number on a sword...especially if you flub it. But they are some of the most fun bottles to cut.

Gatorade bottles are the toughest ones I cut. But even those I wouldn't call abuse, not by a long shot. I think common sense plays a large part in "sword abuse".
If the person holding the sword thinks even for a second " I shouldn't do this" or " This could be bad", maybe they should step back and think longer; 'cause that can easily lead to abuse.

X- thanks for posting this, there's a cran-grape container in the garage that keeps "looking at me funny". Think I'll just throw it away civilian style now!

Ya, those tall rectangular Ocean Spray-type bottles are awesome to cut. There are only a few really hard plastic beverage bottles that I don't keep for cutting. You can tell them by the feel. the plastic seems different, or maybe just perhaps because it's thicker. But I cut most juice jugs and larger beverage bottles.

They are harder to cut than the thinner ones. I wouldn't call it abuse, but keep in mind one can bend a sword on a bad cut on a thin bottle. It's the water. Only if you fill them with hard water. If you have a water-softener it's fine. ;D

Well, you could do like I do with the thick walled containers and STAB EM!
They are awesome for working on your thrusts. The thick walls close up on themselves pretty good and I can get at least 10 thrusts into one before it empties itself of water. Just try and aim high and work your way lower, you could probably get 20+ thrusts if you were good enough.
Then again, if you are cutting with a non thrusty weapon, it might be different, but I'd say that as long as it's not a butchers cleaver, you should be fine.

I find large jugs intimidating. I find small jugs uninteresting... I mean, uh.... I'm afraid I might hit the stand. Yeah, that's it.

As Greg said, I use the thicker jugs for thrusting mostly. I take the occasional swipe at them after they become filled with holes, but I find them to be a little to thick for my liking.

I like small jugs. How do you keep the bottle from being knocked off the stand while you thrust at it?
