Alright. This sword is gaudy and ugly, but I love the stand it's on. casiberia.com/prod_Detail.aspx?id=SH2421Question is: Why is it so difficult to find beautiful elegant sword stands by themselves? There are a few out there like this one from Hanwei which I bought for my Qi Jian : casiberia.com/prod_Detail.aspx?id=OH2025 Google turns up the standard black laquered tiered stands that you see everywhere. Is there somewhere that has a nice selection of elegant stands to pick from?

Months ago I browse ebay and I found that Zhisword sells some pretty interesting sword stand. I don't know much about the quality of these stand but they seem different from generic lacquered stand. Personally I love the looks of kingfisher's sword stand but they ain't cheap.

Ah thanks for the link. Those are more on the lines of what I'm looking for. Something with character Kingfisher's stands are simple and elegant and remind me of the art deco artwok style, but they're too blocky for my tastes.

Look around antique stores, you might find something very elegant looking that with a little modification could be made into a stand along the lines of what you're looking for. Lots of stuff in those stores is expensive but I've also found some really nice wood furniture at very good prices, might be something worth looking into.

Do you want horizontal or vertical? I generally prefer horizontal, but I'm pretty open minded.

I have to agree with you dude. While it isn't really to may taste, that is a VERY nice stand and there should be more out there like them.
