Well it can be a kanmuri...I'm judging from one picture...a digital picture at that. With the paper, the chances are quite high...but things have been mislabeled before.

Ah, sorry to be the bearer of bad news then. I'm thinking next time I order from them I'll just get a bare blade. Figure out how to do a good ito-maki or whatever myself. That way I can get my own fittings too, instead of those fittings they have that everyone else on ebay also seems to have. Thats likely your best bet... thats what Ichiban does with most of the ebay china-tana selelrs. When I got my two swords from Huawei awhile back I was fairly impressed with the blades, but the fittings and tsuka was all pure crap, and one of the tsukas was cracked badly. So, getting these for the blades is the way to go.

So, getting these for the blades is the way to go. exactly. for around $150 shipped I got a t-10 bare blade including (cheap & ugly) Habaki, one cheap 10" Tsuka with black Same panels, one very nice 11" Tsuka with no Same and a typical but decent Saya. another plus is that they did not drill any Nakago-ana. I believe that as long as you are very specific as to the details on blade geometry/style and don't mind doing the fittings yourself, you can wind up getting a great project blade at a very fair price. btw, the communication with the vendor was timely and very helpful. 6 day delivery!! shot of the Hamon -

Dang! Dynasty Forge, go eat a cake! Very nice hamon on that one. Seems they improve all the time. I assume that one is home etched, Frank?
The habaki is one of their really weak points, I've switched the habaki on all of my Huawei blades.

I didn't mean to mislead anyone . but hey, you can't bring it out in an etch if it's not there to begin with.

Just something I discovered tonight. My eBay auction for this sword, even though listed as 2 available......was what I got in the pictures. I checked the hamon against the listings pics.
Now that I have bought this one they (at least it seems ) re- listed the other Kanmuri with its own pics?
Wondered if anyone else can confirm... would be cool if that were the case... at least seeing what blade you actually get by the photos would be cool.

I think so, because the one i order is the same as the pictures.. Just for the notes... Huawei make me the sword as i requested (the kanmuri with nohi on the middle) and he screw up on the blade. He send me pictures where is the flaw and apologizing and everything about the flaw and that he is making a new one for me.. If it was another seller he would send me that blade and dont tell me nothing... At least he is pretty straight forward on that and honest and i like that... (He assures me that at least they dont sell and send blades with flaws on them)

So I'm guessing we're looking at a hagire or two? If that's what I'm seeing, yeah, that's fatal. Glad they caught it. Not sure if I'm looking for a flaw in the tip, though...but I agree, kissaki isn't bad. Kind of wondering if they might nudge that bohi out a bit further and maybe not have that weird ramp effect... Looks like an angled flat-edge shovel.

Looks like an angled flat-edge shovel. I thought the same, but then i also think about that if is more flat its gonna be more delicated. Or can be something related to the angle the picture was taken?

I wonder about the angle. For the kissaki shot, especially, the angle gives me a hard time with whether or not it's shaped in a way I, personally, would like. It looks awfully short, even hurried, from the angle we're seeing...but maybe it's actually a much more graceful arc than we can see? As to the bohi...I dunno. Being a huge fan of naginata-hi I am a bit of a stickler for getting it "just right." My favorite will probably ALWAYS be this one: www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/Naohiro1.html and had I a fortune to offer for it, I would. Actually, this was the same blade James Raw used for reference when he made my wak, though he finished it off more kanmuri than unokubi, and it has the same kissaki as the one pictured, though I like mine better: I've got to give Hauwei their due credit, though...at least they didn't just round it off like everybody else. There's a lot to be said for that much by itself.
