ahh, good to know Dan thanks. Though the part about platinum I was thinking sounded good was resistant to wear and tarnish. Rather than the other bits. I put the whole thing since it was interesting that platinum had such properties.
Not that I actually would use platinum for seppa (way too expencive for b asicly a spacer) But would it actually be a decent metal to use, I have 0 experience with it myself.
Though I do think one of those little 1 gram bars would make a great menuki, and maybe a silver, palladium, or titanium 1 gram for the other side. Would be sort of an interesting unique look I think. Sort of a modern western take on the menuki, but also taking it back to a more traditional idea being actual bullion bars. I have already found a few places to get the 1 gram bars. LOL I even saw brass and copper ones.

Man I love the idea of using bullion as menuki, my first choice would be gold. It's more recognizable and will have more contrast with silver seppa habaki. If the habaki and seppa are brass or copper , silver and/or platinum would be awesome.

The easiest way to make seppa is to glue a good seppa as template onto a square sheet of metal, bottom to bottom using a few drops of superglue. This can easily be removed afterwards. Cut it out roughly, drill the nagako ana and do all the file work with the seppa to be copied from still attached. That way the seppa will get perfect. I usually leave a bit in the nagako ana to get a good fit when mounted, and do the small file adjustment while installing. If the seppa is to be larger or smaller I make a template as described, and use the saya and fuchi and a marker pen to get the right size.

Now that just makes too much sense, what are you trying to do get us to do things right? LOL ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Great suggestion for seppa making I like it, and will try it out when I make mine.

If the habaki and seppa are brass or copper , silver and/or platinum would be awesome. Do a search for 1 gram bullion and you will get a bunch of hits of little rectangle ones. some are sort of boring looking, but you can find nice looking ones like this gold one. ![](http://www.gramgoldbar.com/themes/blade-irons/images/1grambar.jpg) or these silver ones ![](http://www.collectingsilvercoins.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/-31332804229844960.jpg) or this platinum one ![](http://cdn1.ioffer.com/img/item/137/995/013/dEPa.jpg) Each of those styles can be found in all three metals. You can even find titanium copper and brass. Probably many other metals too. *edit BTW prices for 1 gram bars run aprox platinum $83 gold $58 titanium $3-$4 silver $1.50 - $2.50 brass $1-$1.50 copper $1-$1.50
