My Windlass Effigy sword has a bent blade! I got it like this, though I'm not sure if I made it worse or not with several bad cuts and a light thrust that kinda hit the stand. And about how many lower end swords can do this? (The blade is actually rather stiff, it's just bowed...) video:

You probably should've contacted whoever you ordered it from when you first got it instead of cutting with it and such. Unfortunately, I've kinda no clue what vendors would accept for returns and w/e it is. Never have had problems like that, a sword arriving bent.... Well, there is that one rusty Albion blank... but it was supposed to be in bad shape imo. You could always do the whole 'bend it over your knee' thing, but I wouldn't recommend it. Actually, I probably shouldn't have mentioned it either.

I seem to recall a story about someone getting a bend out of a sword by hanging in the sun for a day. I can't remember who it was who said they did it though.

Arms of Valor would take it back and provide a replacement if you purchased from them.....though they inspect everything before shipping and typically catch most defects. If you didn't get it through AoV contact the vendor and see if they will replace it with a straight blade.

Some times retempering it can help, put the blade end in the oven at 250'f for an hour, let cool in oven, then check it out...SanMarc.

Yeah if its summer and no rain put it outside in the sun for 3 days straight the bow in the air so it settles out of it, put it on a plank so the crossguard is over the lip, that as it settles it will settle straight against the wood and not being to sag in the other direction,
If that doesnt do it get a pair of 2 x 4 posts, put the blade between the two and tie the suckers together as tight as you can and leave it for two weeks.

If it was a windlass it was probably originally tempered at up to 800F, so any heat you can do to it won't soften it any further, or make any 'soft zones'. I'd suggest heating it to about 350F and then manually straighten it - it will reset quite easily at that temp - very easily in fact, just wear welding gloves - then clamp it between two planks or angles and let it cool in the jig. Then she'll come out straight as a die. If heating in the oven keep it well away from the heat source. 350F shouldn't discolour the metal, though if it has that lacquery coat they talk about I have no idea how it will affect that? Keep the hilt end a good 6" out to avoid losening any epoxied parts.

The straightening in the sun story was Shootermike's. He did this to his Norman.

When my first wife said this exact thing to me on our wedding night I knew immediately I had chosen poorly in matrimony. Ah, the follies of youth.
