One man's "too short" is another man's "just right". I love the look of the trondheim, forged from a single piece makes a blade exceptionally strong and the leather work looks stunning. I've been tempted but never wanted to pay the full price for it, I remember when it was $700, that isn't worth it, for $300 I'd probably take the risk. Yeh... we do love our short swords, you and I. ;D Its at 450 now so its on its way to your 300. Indeed we do, Marc has it for $375 but that is still too high in my opinion even though I am extremely curious about it. Have to keep reminding myself I have a jin-shi in the works.

Logically, it does seem that the sword would be stronger being forged as one piece from pommel to tip. I haven't handled this sword and KOA doesn't give POB or any of the other vitals but Hanwei usually gets it pretty close to right in my experience. The pattern work on the blade is beautiful from what I can tell in the photos. And yes, the leather and metal work on the scabbard is very nice. Wonder why they decided to do the blade at 24 1/4"? Anyway, have you seen this one? Nice looking, IMO, and done pretty well except for the grip, which is comfortable but puzzling in shape. Jim

Hey, Gray Wolf--when you post a pic like that you gotta tell us what the sword is and who makes it. Can't just leave us hanging, Bro.

Is that a windlass? I could swear I saw that hilt design on one of their older swords, and that's the same scabbard they use for most of their Vikes.

I thought so too, but I can't seem to find anything like it anywhere now.

Hey, Gray Wolf--when you post a pic like that you gotta tell us what the sword is and who makes it. Can't just leave us hanging, Bro. Okey-doke; didn't know if anyone would be interested. Sneaky you nailed it. It's the Windlass "Norse Viking Sword" which they have discontinued. I picked it up on recommendation from KOA when I was looking for an inexpensive "Viking" sword. It handles well and I love the hilt. Grip is a little strange but comfortable, at least for my medium/large hand. The upper guard and pommel is two-piece with the tang going right through and peened at the top. there are 2 twisted steel wires between the center and end lobes. Very nicely done for this price range. the scabbard of course is cheap leather but with a nice silver plated tip. vital stats: * Overall:37-1⁄2" * Blade: 30-1⁄2" long, 1-7⁄8" wide, 3⁄16" thick * Wt: 3 lbs Jim
