Luka, that is abosolutely beautiful man! I especially love the horn grip. How long did it take for him to do the hilt work?

Thanks! I love the grip too, but horn almost always gets little cracks after fitting on the tang and I'm a bit afraid if they will get worse with cutting. But the grip is epoxied so I hope it will be good. I waited only two weeks and the work itself was maybe a day or two. With Alojz you can wait for a month or two if he's busy but usually it's done in a week or two, three. I should say that all that he has done for me, this, my ribbon baskethilt and replica of XIIIa from Glasgow museum hilt, it's all a first try of something like that for him. He has done a few sabers, yataghan and a few katana-ish things before, but his main business are knives and guns.

I wasn't sold on the hilt until I saw the full profile picture. That blade shape completes the flow of the thing, or something. Nice work on the handle . I can't wait to better pics. Great job man.

Nice, thats somthing like what I am doing with my windlass blade, but with the og grip, use super glue in the cracks, that will help, I burn in the handels so they fit better...SanMarc.

Yep, that Classic Medieval blade begs for something like this. Do you already know what type of hilt will it be? H or something else?

Yeah thats brilliant man, love the lines on it, I love the earlier viking hilts of the 8th to 9th C, brilliant, and the H/T Viking blade should do good service ......... and yeah just fill in horn handle gaps with super glue, all swords in use need maintenence whether blade or hilt,

Luka:
What can I say, priyatel? That's a gorgeous upgrade. The custom hilt works so very well with the H/T blade, really making it "pop" visually. For me, it really seems to show the transition between ancient and medieval swords. You have a great eye, sir, a great eye.

Thanks guys! It realy is a beautiful hilt, I hope I'll be able to post better pictures soon. Sanmarc, you yourself are doing the hilt I guess? Type H is realy universal, popular for a long time in Norway and Sweden, just the Danes didn't use it much it seems... Brissybeater - the hilt is full of epoxy, I think it realy won't go anywhere... KC - "priyatel" is in which language? We in Croatia say "prijatelj" but it's a question of spelling, it should sound the same probably...

Luka:
More properly, приятель, and yes, it's Russian, but I was willing to hazard that there was either a cognate, or the same word, in Serbian or Croatian (and probably in Bulgarian, for that matter). Transliteration is a monster for me, sometimes!

That's a one-of-a-kind you've got there. Congratulations on that fine piece of work. Looks like it would handle pretty nice too.
