I want to make a char aina set (breastplate, backplate, and sideplates) to complete my Indo-Persian kit. Anybody made their own? I'm trying to find some good, DETAILED info on how to make one. Not a lot of detailed photos available on the web, that I've found so far...

Good luck. Indo-Persian is one area that hasn't gotten too popular with the recreators yet. Like Chinese...

Too bad, considering that plain versions of original pieces are often less expensive than their European equivalents...

If you can grab some pictures of the armour on and off a person, you should be able to get an idea of the shape. From there, I recommend playing with cardboard or plastic until you achieve the desired shape and fit, then move to working with metal.

That was going to be my next step. I figured heavy posterboard would make for a decent mock-up, with masking tape for the straps. I was just hoping somebody had already made one so I could get dimensions. Indian warriors tended to be small people, compared to modern Americans, which is why most of their weapon hilts tend to be a bit cramped for us. So an original char-aina would tend to be too small, too.
