Hey all, I just noticed that Albion's got three new models of Roman swords, and DAMN do they look nice: The Augustus: The Tiberius: The Trajan: That last pompeii gladius has a "Guttmann Reinforced" hollow-ground tip. Nifty: I like the Augustus myself. ;D

Me likey, Luna. The Tiberius is my fav. The grips look like a marked improvement over the perfectly round ones.

Yea, I'm a fan of the grips--these swords look awesome!
I really like the Tiberius, but the pommel on it looks a little weird to me (yea, I know it's historical, it just looks odd. Kinda like cocked hat pommels on 13th century German swords).
I suppose that kind of pommel would be more comfortable in use, though, wouldn't it? Wouldn't be much in the way.

I like the pommel on the Tibby. Looks like one used in the second season of "Rome". I wouldn't pull a hair for historical correctness.

ooh, I like the pommel on the Tiberius... but I like the thinner blade of the Trajan. Not that I can afford such a thing, but if I were to buy a one-handed sword that's not a rapier or a waki...

The point on the Tiberius looks brutal. I like that

If I am not mistaken, the trajan is based on the Guttmann collection here: More pictures here

Well, I guess this answers the question, "So what's the bomb-diggity gladius these days," doesn't it? I really like the Tiberian, and no, I'm not copying RicWilly. For some reason the Augustus looks somewhat amorphous in blade shape, even though it's a Mainz, which I've traditionally preferred. Whereas the Fulham has always seemed neither fish nor fowl nor good red meat, I really like the execution of the Tiberian here.
Not as if I'd turn my nose up at any of them, now, not even the Trajan!

Hey guys, they've got a new spatha up now as well! The Decurio: That blade looks eerily similar to a sword I drew the other day. Wild. I like this one!

Damn, that's a good looking sword. First spatha I've actually liked the look of.

The grip on the spatha and the Tiberius match really well too.

I'm quite partial to the Auxillia myself beauty in simplicity...

The grip on the spatha and the Tiberius match really well too. So, Odingaard, we're thinking a Roman daisho? Cheers Marc E
