Since I don't have an actual design thread (As most are named according to what I have done, like one for my Master Sword Designs, or for my School Doodles. ) I decided to make one at last. I have planned to for some time now, but did not have any designs to upload so I held it off... Mods, feel free to delete my old threads if you wish. ;D Anyway, I have one new design. I am quite proud of this one... I call this one "Morgen". Norwegian for "Morning" ;D. It was inspired by a sword from one of my favorite novels of all time, written by one of our very own members here at SBG. I feel a bit imposing to give out too much information, even though it is probably most welcome. I will direct him to this thread and he can tell me whether he approves of this or not. Anyway, the guard and pommel I imagined to be brass or a highly polished steel, while the grip is made of ivory, although a wood such as Holly would be a substantial enough substitute. I plan on adding some grip carving, but only when I have a clear idea of where I am going with it... The guard and pommel are inset with a Diamond and the blade I imagine would have a bit more distill taper. (I suck at drawing it, but there is a BIT on my drawing). The cross section would be a diamond shaped, but with a bit more "niku". More of a convex shape if it makes sense... I have a deep love of that blade shape... The drawing looks better in person, but the paper was bent a bit, making it looks a lot less straight then I drew it... That and the lines could be cleaner... But I am otherwise happy.

Thanks Glaciersteel! Up next is only the hilt of the sword I am now working on. It is a Jian I HOPE to have commissioned some day... It is called "Blood Orchid". I kept the guard and pommel blank (As in no engravings) because I have not settled on a design yet, so I don't wanna end up with a big mess to erase... Yet... The sword is one from a story I am making. The wielder is a female named "Ming". The grip would probably be wrapped with green rayskin and the fittings bronze, or blued steel depending... The design will be settled upon once the sword is made. ;D As if I decide to cheap out and have the fittings un-engraved, then I guess Ming has a preference for simple designs... I may sound lazy/cheap, but it is the only way one can have a sword from his comics in his hands and have it look exactly the same... Well on my budget anyway...

In one of my design threads I posed a question about a good ivory substitute and I learned that camel bone is a good, strong white material that is very aesthetically pleasing

VS: Thanks for the tip! I will keep that in mind!
BW: Thanks! Feel free to elaborate on how you would get them done. Maybe I might snatch up an idea from you... ;D
