Just wondering how much a 200 ml can of this goes for usually? How long it lasts? How you apply it? Consistency? Seems global gear just got this in and I was wondering whether it might be good stuff for swords and knives that dont see alot of use or for shipping blades overseas. Global gear is charging $49 AUD for a 200ml can.

I don't use it on my blades cuz its gunky and looks nasty and most of mine are displayed... but it does a good job for shipping. As for applying it, I put some on a paper towel and rub it all over the blade.

€ 16.39 around here You can apply it as Sean does but you can also rub it out to an almost invisible finish. It has been on 2 of my blades for 2 months or more and I haven't seen a hint of rust yet.

I would like to take this opportunity to recommend you try a nice, cheap silicone gun cloth at about $5. See how that works for you. No rust with nothing but the cloth here in PA. Stored/Displayed in scabbard.
Edit: I normally apply the cloth once a week, but the sword has gone as long as 2 months with no new application and still no rust.

Ebay it for the best price, if you want to try it. But I had very poor results with it. The worst being when I shipped a client's blade OS, slathered in RW, and it showed up lotsa rusty.

How long does the cloth last/retain its ability to be used on the swords? Do you store it sealed, like in a ziplock bag or something? Where do you get it, gun shopes... anywhere else?

I got mine at sporting goods stores. I bet even Wally World has them. I just store them in the little baggies they come in. By no means air-tight. Just to keep the dust and other crap off of them.
Only reason I threw away my old one and bought the new one is that my dog chewed on it and it was unuseable. I think it was about a year old.
Gotta be careful when using it, though. It requires some decent pressure to apply properly and I cut most of the way through my first cloth a couple times. So if you have a properly sharpened blade... Be careful, anyway. Even a dull blade will cut you pretty good if you slip.
Originally, I was applying a thin film of oil, I don't remember what kind, with the cloth. Then I stopped using the oil when I got the new cloth. It does better over extended times with just the cloth. After a month with the oil+cloth, I had to buff off some rust. It's been about 6 months since I got the new cloth, though... 2 months, Nov-Dec I was out of state. No rust. Feb I was also out of state. No rust. No one home to wipe the blade for me.

I'd just go with a silicone spray. I've used Renwax with no troubles and had a couple of those silicone rags. Now I just spray the silicone directly on the blade and wipe it down. I been using it for a year or so with no troubles. A couple bucks at Wal-mart.

I use it on the blades that stay in their scabbards, works great, i re-apply once every 3 months or so. Works on leather to to keep that shinny look if you like it. But, please take care of not contaminate the wax with anything, happened to me once and created the very opposite effect, i had a blade all covered in rust spots because of this. Use it in a ventilated area too, annoying smell.

I use silicone spray as well. On swords, guns, and fishing equipment. Make your own silicone cloth. Keep it in a zip lock bag.

I use a sentry solutions Tuff cloth. I've been using it for a good few months now and it's good. i had a couple of tiny rust spots at first but just removed them with some Flitz but now i only wipe it down every 2 to 3 months and it's fine no probs.
