Can anyone here recommend a well made functional miao dao that is available?
I have tried to no avail to locate a Hanwei corn leaf saber, and until I am able to locate one figured I would explore different avenues to acquire a miao dao or a few different ones.
I have the Hanwei Yang Saber and was quite impressed, this naturally lead to my interest in this particular sword form, and a chance to expand my collection in a new direction.

Contact Jin-Shi. I know Garrett has produced some before.

Second Liam's idea to get one from Jin-Shi, let him know you are an SBG forum member and get some discount. The corn saber is too light to be functional/historically accurate. Garrett from Jin-Shi knows a thing or two about Chinese swords so you could learn from him as you have your miao-dao made . Here is something you might wanna check out

Thanks for that video, that really got me interested in the new to me aspect of chinese weapons.
Do you have any experience with the ZhiSword weapons? They have a good reputation with the Katana crowd, but I cant seem to find any feedback on their Dao types.

Don't quote me on this but I heard Zhiswords makes pretty decent katana. Can't say the same to their Chinese line because the tang could be a little too thin. Personally the fittings is a dealbreaker for me as it looks a little cheap. For the same price (or perhaps cheaper) Garrett at Jin-Shi could do better.

Once again thanks for the info.
It appears that contacting Jin Shi is the way to go.
The Zhi appears to be a non starter, and from what I have gathered so far, getting a Zheng Wu will cost substantially more than what Garrett could have one made for.
The Zheng Wu is very appealing. If Scott Rodell can flog on it and say its good it would surely be more than suitable for me.
Thanks for the input.
Edited to add-
I did hear what you said about the Hanwei corn leaf earlier, but I really like the looks of it and still want one just to have ;D

The only reason I would get that Adam Hsu corn leaf saber is to get their fittings, I am sure if you put a WTB ad on the classified, someone might be willing to part with it.
