Starting out as another attempt at a Type XVIII, this sword quickly developed into a near clone of my first try - Steorraniht. I shortened the blade on this one, making it more of a manageable, "bastard" size, as well as giving it a different hilt setup. Funny thing is, the sword became a fantasy - as I could not find any examples of Type XVIII Bastards - but the fittings might be some of the most historically based I've ever drawn up. The sword itself surprised me, which is always fun for an artist. When your project takes on a life of its own, it stops being a project to complete and starts to become a project to discover. Blade Length: 34" Grip: 12" (with 4" pommel) Overall: 50" This sword is also a tribute to my current town - and one of the friend therein - of Albuquerque. The city is situated right against Sandia Peak, a desert mountain of stone on one face and of meadows and trees on the other side. Thanks all! Crockett

I don't like the cross guard but I do love the rest of it, definitely my kind of sword.

I like all parts of it. Definitely nice historical hilt, and the although the part where ricasso meets the blade is fantasy-ish, it's not too much and the blade looks great.
