One thing I love about SBG is I can always count on constructive criticism and not destructive (like I've recieved on SFI in the past). This is my first serious attempt at a Jian-ish sword. I've done fantasy story versions, but this one I've been working on for a good hunk of time. I've had the pommel and guard in my head ever since Sanmarc introduced me to the Fish Tail pommel design. My reckoning tells me the blade will have a good presence to it, and it would probably make a better cutter than it would a sword for forms. The fittings would be made of steel, with blued accents and sapphire jewels. As always, thoughts are welcome!

Well, let me be the first to say: I like it!!
I don't know if the first thing it strikes me as is a jian--the profile taper and reinforced forte area make it seem almost like a pre-rapier cut-and-thrust westerner with a fantasy hilt, but I dig it nonetheless!
Really has an almost Samson-esque feel to it with the blackened fittings and blunt area at the ricasso. Very nice. You make some good-looking designs, crockett.
