Hey everyone I was looking for a free CAD program, and I fond that Google has one that is free. Its called Google SketchUp. I think it's really interesting so I wanted to share it with everyone here at SBG. I'm still learning, (I've only had it for 2 days) but here are some pics. it probably isn't going to replace drawing for me but its something fun to mess around with. If you're interested you can download the program here. sketchup.google.com/

Not bad at all for a free program. The AutoCAD program I learned in college sold for $600.00 and it had nothing in the way of graphics like this Google program does.
I hope the updated versions are better than the one I learned on; was never worth the money to me, lol.

I've been using Sketchup for a few years now, due to my profession as a designer. If you need any questions regarding the software just P.M anytime.
There's a add on for Sketchup called SU Podium, It produces photo realistic renders and it's very quick. Try it out and let us see how'd you go.....

mekial: I was in college taking drafting in 2001. The CAD they were trying to get me to buy was the 1998-99 edition. It was HORRIBLE. I never bought it, lol.

I'm using Sketch Up too (not to a professional level, but I can handle it) for some projects. The major downfall compared to other programs I've used (Rhino and 3DStudio Max) is that there's no way to modify your piece. I mean, if you wanted a Kriss in 3DS you could have done a straight blade bending it later, with sketch up you must have everithing already in mind (beside the fact that making an abstract line is pretty difficoult with Sketch up). It's anyway a fast, user friendly and overall good software, didn't know of that rendering plugin mentioned by Vue' I should give it a try
