I hope they're worthwhile, I just jumped on a deal for one: www.museumreplicas.com/p-235-grantham-rapier.aspxfor ~$180 after sharpening and shipping, it will at least make a decent wallhanger, but I'm hoping this will be the whippy, lightning-quick and razor-sharp fencing sword I've always wanted.

They're really not bad representations of live steel rapiers.
That does sort of pose a problem, since I don't think there is much you can do with a live rapier except pick a fight with the Cardinal's Guards in back alleys. ( They're pretty much prohibited every where else event wise. ) ;D
Enjoy

I've always claimed wanting to bring back the old academic 'fencing to first blood'...
I'll be partway there with this little guy. Now to find someone else who doesn't mind bleeding occasionally...

Indeed. Not that I acquired that in a duel or anything. Just teenagers messing around with fancy Pakistani machetes. Still, the concept always intrigued me.

Ooo, Hanwei's Gustav is much better looking version of that rapier and it's $50 cheaper...although the windlass is slightly thicker in profile at the ricasso. Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out....some pics of the pierced guard is what im interested in. The casting looked much more well done on Hanwei's but some closeups would be nice if you have the time

Thats not a bad looking sword at all, I am not really sold on the all black motif, but that's personal.
Good to hear that you like it.

not the best interpretations of the rapier, but not the worst either, you get what you pay for with windlass.
