Hey Guys, I just got Windlass's sword of cassel from MRL for $150. I got it sharpened but I had a coupon so with the sharpening and shipping it was only like 170$. This sword is really nice I suggest if you've been interested in this sword to grab one while you can. It'll be an excellent cutter. Well balanced at a little over 4in. and good blade presence. I'll have some pics up soon. It's a nice looking sword too.

This sword looks a bit silvery for me in it's pictures, although I realize some swords look better in person. (and some don't... Is the wire wrap on the grip good?

Yes the sword is a bit silvery since its all steel colored with the wire wrap but I don't mind that. Everything ends up looking really nice and I like the shape of the cross guard. The wire grip is nice on the handle. It's a very fine gauge of wire so it doesn't rip up your bare hand while swinging it around. Some wire grips have that tendency, like on my windlass munich c&t. That wire grip alternates between a thicker gauge wire twist and 2 small gauge wires which looks beautiful but you really need to handle the sword with a leather glove(which I do anyway with all my swords). hope that answers your questions.

MRL has the Cassel on their "Deal Of The Day" today for 112.50$
I have a 10% coupon from them, so I'm going to get one too and I'll only be out like 101.25$ plus shipping.
Not a bad start to the day.

I went ahead and bought one as a deal of the day, for my wife and stepdaughter to use for Fiore longsword partner work (both are barely 5' tall, so I figured this blade will fit the longsword bill).
The sword is as nice as I was hoping, with a good stiff blade, fair distal taper, and excellent balance. The finish is typical for Windlass, though the finish on the blade is much more of a satin finish than most Windlass blades, almost as good as you find on a Hanwei. The fit is nice and tight, and the wire wrap is sturdy, and also gentle on bare hands.
On the negative, as always such purchases are hit or miss from Windlass, and this one has a blade curved about 8 or 9 degrees. I know there are methods to fix this, but I am going to exchange it for another one. I'd keep it if it were a mere wallhanger, but as it is going to be for WMA practice, I consider an 8-9 degree curve to be a safety issue. Other than that though, I think this piece is well worth the asking price, even without being a deal of the day., and I am keeping mine, just getting one that is (hopefully!!) not as curved.
Plus, its pretty, and my teenage daughter's cooing when I told her it was going on the wall in her room probably saved me from being skinned when my wife saw that I had bought another sword.

Ha ha glad you bought some! Way to use your daughter as a mediator j/k. Nice touch!!
