So, after having pre-ordered my Malatesta from Jason at AoV/Imperial Weapons, I got to thinking. How many others here have preordered the Malatesta? There's no real news on it yet, haven't heard if the blades came back from the forge or anything, so I figured I'd give us all a place to talk about this big, beautiful bastard.

left handed version? Was that a joke? The malatesta has an ambidextrous hilt. Also whilst the malatesta is quite pretty I am waiting for the awesomeness that will be the passau, haven't seen any good pics but the vid gives me hope.

He probably means the scabbard and belt are fitted for a left handed swordsman.

BW- The Passau was canceled, but will re-emerge in the form of a new practical line piece. It won't look exactly like the former Passau, though... I, for one, LOVE the Malatesta. It's by far my favorite of the Sig designs... I really need to start saving up for one, I've talked to Sonny and they aren't all that far off, from what I've heard. -Slayer

If i understood correctly ( please prove me wrong ) the malatesta will have the same blade as the practical longsword. If that the case its only new fittings ... a bit disapointing i think.

From what I understand, while they do share a blade, there's more to it than that. There's also fit and finish. The signature line looks better. You're getting a full Gus Trim/Christian Fletcher designed package, as opposed to just a Gus Trim designed sword with the Practical line. Don't get me wrong, the Practicals are nice, and from what I understand they cut really well. However, the Signatures just look prettier. I can't be disappointed in this sword unless it just utterly sucks. However, I'm reassured knowing that it shares the blade with the 304s.
