Also, KoA typically says if they think an item is battle ready. Now, they consider some swords to be battle ready I wouldn't cut with, so if they don't even have it listed as battle ready, I wouldn't try cutting with it. You'd be likely to end up with a whirling helicopter of death. That is true. For instance, most of Hanwei Chinese swords (except for their cutting jian) are not very suitable for cutting according to the Hanwei rep. But most of them have "Battle Ready" tag on it. It seems to me that as long as the blade is sharp and made of carbon steel, it is labeled "Battle ready" lol.

Of all the Hanwei swords I've owned, they all had tags that said they were for display only.

That tag is there for glorious liability. "We told you display only, but you went and hit something with it. Not our fault you got hurt. :-p"
Far from the issue of whether stainless, be it case-hardened or otherwise, is suitable within certain dimensions, I'm far more concerned with tang and hilt construction.
Send a picture to the Scorpion guy, like the others said. It'll be way better. Granted, it'll cost more.

As for the 12" bit I've used some 18" corn and cane knives that were 440-460 stainless and the actually held up fairly well. But those were made as heavy duty tools not display pieces. I would trust that thing about as far as my cat could throw it with three broken paws.

I have drop point version of this knife bought from SMK 10 years ago about the only thing good about this knife is that it still cost $12.99 after 10 years (we will skip the inflation and exchange rate here ) .The machine sharp edge is about as sharp as butter knife so you can not cut anything with if you want to . It is still very good self defense knife 'cause it is longer than kitchen knife and it has guard to protect the hand so you can use it Hong Kong stye in self defense situation .

Yeah, I've been eyeing lots of the stuff at Scorpion for a while. Maybe I'll check that out.
