With the help of my knight I am making my own 14th Century armor for SCA combat. The shoulders were made by my knight about 8 years ago, the elbows are a recent purchase from Bakalo Armory, and the legs are being made by me (with help). The upper legs are made of aluminum as it does not dent as easily as stainless steel and makes the overall leg harness much lighter. The knees and articulations are stainless. Still need to work on the greaves, which will also be stainless. I still need to add straps and other leather pieces to hold them together. I will post pictures of me wearing the kit when it is finished. Soon I hope! Attachments:

That sounds a lot like what I have been doing. Great work, Jason! I partially made some of my armor (which is far from complete) with the help of a terrific SCAdian. Actually, he did the difficult part, and I did some of the easy tasks. It is a learning experience. All in all, he let me do some easy things like dishing, cutting out the pattern, a little bit of riveting and edge rolling. I look forward to seeing your complete suit.

Killer kit, Jason! So much better than my first kit. I was a canvas and pickel barrell Wisby fool. It worked, but god it was hideous.

Thanks, I have a working kit at the moment, and this is the kit that I want to wear, so I have time to work on it and make it exactly how I want rather than rush to get on the field. I spent way more on the gambeson than I wanted to, but the first one I ordered just was not going to work out. I guess sometimes you get what you pay for. Attachments:

It looks almost just like my kit Jason. All you need is a kidney belt and you are set.
