Well Jabberwock, I would be more than happy to pass it along to you if it wasn't for the small matter of me wanting to keep it ;D
Sorry mate, but I wont be letting it go anytime soon that I can see, I am still formulating a plan on just what I am going to do with it, but every plan I've considered so far involves the sword actually being in my posession ;D
Any blade mods wont involve drastic stock removal of the blade unless I have it heat treated again. I am not decided if I will stay with the current grip length, or if it will get shortened in the blade to provide a longer grip. I am leaning towards the latter, but nothing set in stone yet.

I'm no bladesmith, so take this with a bucket of salt, but you could also get a more rounded transition from the tang to the blade shoulders by taking a little off the width of the tang, leaving the curves. It's a pretty wide tang, even for such a large sword, and I don't imagine you'd need to take more than 1/16th" off each side to get enough curve for comfort. You'd have to shim or fill the inside of the grip, of course, but it'd save shortening and re-threading the tang, and avoid all the hassels with eating into the blade shoulders and worrying about temper etc.
Narrowing the tang on a big sword like this is a bit worrisome, I know- it's worth thinking about anyway. But yeah, wait for advice from someone who really knows what they're talking about!
Cheers

By jove Poohze, I think that you may have hit a home run with that idea. Very easy and yes there is more than enough tang there to support the operation that you suggest.
If I decide to keep the blade full length, I will definitely do what you suggest and post the results. I am still unsure if I want to shorten the blade a bit to provide for a longer grip. Shortening it is no big deal, as I will do it in a mill and the tool will provide the radius at the tang juncture.
You get ye olde +1 for a bang up idea!!!
