Why do people insist on talking about doing violence to an attacker without killing said attacker? If you're going to hurt the guy, you are legally and civilly Safer to finish his ass off. If you are unwilling to KILL him, then hide in your room and lock the door and hope the cops get there in time. Anything else will land you in jail, the poorhouse and/or a coffin. Even in Texas. I have heard this before. I suppose its probably true. I don't think I would be afraid to kill a dirty violent criminal but if it were dark and I didn't know who I was killing I might want to hesitate before I go and pull the trigger. edit: how do I quote two different people in the same post? Have you ever killed somone before? Trained to do so? Put steel in other's flesh? I think a lot of people speak about lots of possibilities without thinking it through. Then again, some motivations are somwhat reflexive.

This as well reads as a bit reactionary.

As much as I love my Kat-my 12 gauge pump is what I would grab, along with Bowie and a machete. In a case of civil unrest and a breakdown of socieies norm and the absence of law.I will enforce my own-take no prisoners!Expect no mercy from those you encounter-I would not seek out violence but I would not hesitate to defend myself, the ones I love and that which I deem nessacary to my health and survival.Break into my house and I will do whatever it takes to stop you-if you die!Oh well....one less piece of garbage for the rest of the world to deal with.If you choose to do evil you should except the results of your actions, just as I expect to do for mine own actions. Well intentioned maybe but reads as dimwittery, as does a lot of offerings in these discussions. I'd like to think that if there were a meltdown, I would have something besides arms and anger to offer in trade and unity with a larger group.

Why do so many people seem to think they are going to have to use a sword to defend themselves against zombies in the future? I guess the same reason people think they are going to be defending themselves against zombies at all: Fun. We will be assimilated, zombies or not.

Shotgun is better than SKS for home defense. Brutal stopping power, and no risk of a ricochet or wall penetration. It depends on the load and wall construction.

In the event of such a possibility, I would hope to have buddied up with those having the most resources.

Taran, now you've got me curious, Lets see if I can remember to borrow the company's shipping scale, and weigh the old wooden bat I have, and my 3 ft crowbar, the one that's the more slender of the two I feel ignorant, but how do you hold a mace different than a bat I never knew there was a difference until now I second that, you are better off killing than just wounding a criminal, if that sounds too harsh, then I suggest a big can of pepper spray and/or a Taser, or stun gun if the local laws will permit it I don't understand anti-weapon laws at all, but outlawing pepper spray, Tasers and stun guns is even more stupid, if such a thing was possible

Make sure you kill the right person. But don't pull the trigger at all if you're aiming for his leg or arm. That's what I am saying. Taran, now you've got me curious, Lets see if I can remember to borrow the company's shipping scale, and weigh the old wooden bat I have, and my 3 ft crowbar, the one that's the more slender of the two The bat should actually have stamped on it somewhere (usually the end of the handle) how much it weighs and how long it is. But if it's old enough that it doesn't, it's probably Lost a lot of weight as it has dried even further. Go to the sports store and look at the bats. If you're swinging the bat 1-handed in a way that allows you to recover almost as quickly as you would with a sword, then you're wielding it the same as you would a mace. If you're gripping it 2-handed, then, well, you're not. Geez, guys; I just use browser tabs. Right-click on "Quote" on the post you want to quote, select "Open in New Tab," Copy and paste to your open comment that you haven't posted yet. Or, do the first half of that and go back and Edit your already posted post. Like I just did...

As a concerned observer I have to say nothing good or constructive can ever come from this thread (apart from it's locking?). It seems the only thing it's done so far is to stir up heavily polarised opinions and bad feeling. This aint the SBG I signed up to *clicks on my own sig to cheer myself up*

It's getting that we can't have a civil, polite disagreement on these boards. How immature are our members becoming?
Everyone should keep in mind that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and unlike the popular saying, they do not all stink. Whether you agree or not, keep your replies respectful. No need to attack or belittle anyone. If you can't refrain from rude and nasty replies maybe it's best you say nothing at all. I really thought we all learned this as children.

I think this is the last time I respond to stupid threads like this. Everytime I get involved I think I have something to offer and everytime it just becomes circular, unbelievable and ridiculous in the extreme. So as of now I am with Liam, but I can't eat cheese so that leaves me semprini out of luck.
